In my previous work, I spent a lot of time developing online tools and access, including launching three podcasts only a few months after they were invented. (And we still only had dial-up Internet — I’d start the episode upload before going to bed because it took all night to upload an hour of audio!) I set up livestreaming in 2010 and hosted conferences with remote speakers. In 2024, anyone with a phone can do that, but back then, it was a monumental task. And when everything shut down a decade later, we could pivot instantly.
But in early 2020, we also had a D&D group with 3 tables running, and that was a completely different challenge. But we made it work, and 4 years later (and despite my leaving that organization), 2 of those tables still continue today. And I am so thankful for the online tools that made it possible.
And last week, FoundryVTT announced a partnership with Wizards of the Coast to publish their content on the Foundry platform. I was working on a Foundry conversion of one of our adventures when I got the news! This just makes access easier for those who need it, whether due to location, health, or scheduling.
Because no matter where you are, who you are, or how strong your immune system is, you should be able to play TTRPGs!
So we’re working hard to make our content available on as many platforms as possible and adding fun light and shadow effects where appropriate like this kitchen scene from Time Is of the Essence: |
