Battles are better fought with allies.
Last night, we rewatched Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief since my daughter just finished the book. When they got to Aunty Em’s Gnome Emporium and split up, I said, “Don’t split the party!” We’re stronger together.
As an introvert, I enjoy spending time by myself. At the same time, I don’t like isolation. Studies on solitary confinement have demonstrated that complete isolation is a form of torture. When I’m taking time to myself, that time has the context of friends and family who are nearly always within reach, that I can depend on, and who depend just as much on me.
Sometimes, especially when I’m trying to push the TTRPG culture another step toward broader accessibility, it’s easy to feel alone, like the “A Paladin in Hell” art from the 1e PHB. “How is it 2024, and every new initiative we make is the first time anyone on earth has done this? Am I exaggerating the importance of all of this?”
But I’m not alone. We have a fantastic team ready to lend their talents to the cause. We have loyal patrons who give of themselves every month to support our work. We have you, who support us however you can, whether financially, socially, or by showing your interest through reading these messages.
We have many battles to fight, but we’re gaining ground, and our cause is just. So whether it’s your sword, your spell, or your song, thanks for storming the castle with us! |
